Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care 

Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care is a non-profit health and social services organization. As they have grown they have expanded into neighborhood warehouse space. This project is the third phase of their growth. It includes classrooms, meeting rooms and office space.

The majority of Mary’s Center’s clients are Hispanic. The design uses color and vocabulary more commonly found in Latin-America to create a cheery place where everyone feels at home. The project had a tight budget and so much of the power of the design comes from paint color selections.

The entry, through a garden arbor, lightens the anxiety people often feel coming to a health care facility. The garden is also a gift to the neighborhood, spreading the healing message of Mary’s Center.
